American food. Is there a term for a type of food that could be any less clear? American food is comprised of so many different things, it can be confusing. For most people though, there is something comfortable and familiar about mainstream American food. Burgers, ribs, wings, fries….they always strike a cord and, while not the pillar of a healthy diet, they can be so worth the splurge. Recently opened at Braman exit 231 on Interstate 35, Kaw Gaming, Inc., has launched the newest Rock & Brews location with some classic, American pub plates served up with some edgy twists.
Greeting visitors with bright lights, big rock music and colorful murals, this 200 seat restaurant oozes energy and liveliness. Zeppelin, the Talking Heads, Blur, and of course, Kiss, are a few examples of the sounds that will hit your eardrums upon arrival. Just past the dizzying lights of slot machines is the entrance to Rock & Brews Restaurant, whose two-sided bar anchors the upbeat space.
Craft burgers are featured, and they are good! Rock & Brews turns up the flavor with the Gastropub burger. This burger is loaded with melted Swiss cheese, bacon, caramelized onions, baby greens, thick tomato slices, garlic aioli and capped with a sunny side up egg, all attempting to be contained on a brioche bun. It’s juicy. It’s messy. It’s satisfying. The Oklahoma Smash Burger is saddled with grilled onions, sharp cheddar, dill pickles and R&B’s house mustard sauce. The smashed patties are almost caramelized, creating a crave-worthy, crust-like texture.
The Demon Chicken is a zesty take on an otherwise routine sandwich. Pepper cheese spread, marinated red onions, coleslaw, fresh jalapenos, and chipotle ranch all compliment a fried chicken breast that has been coated with Rock & Brews Rockin’ Hot Sauce on a sesame seed bun. This spicy sandwich will spark your taste buds and liven up your meal.
Great American food is hard to define because it is so broad and diverse. It’s a variety of ideas and techniques from different sources, mashed together, creating something that is both comforting and reckless. It’s kind of like a mixtape. Each one is different, a little bit of everything is included to make it unique. The pub food at Rock & Brews is just that, a mixtape. They have fused regional flavors with well-known dishes to entertain casino goers and tavern lovers alike.
